Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas on August 25, 2017, bringing catastrophic flooding and wind damage to Houston and Harris County. The storm caused an estimated $125 billion in damage across the state, making it one of the most expensive natural disasters in U.S. history. Thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed, leaving many residents in need of assistance to repair or rebuild their properties.

 

The State-Run Houston and Harris County Housing Recovery Program was launched by the GLO in parallel with the City and County’s programs to address the housing needs of affected residents through a range of services, including homeowner repair, reconstruction, and elevation assistance. The program aimed to ensure that homes were rebuilt to be more resilient to future disasters.

H2Bravo served as the construction manager for the State-Run program, overseeing damage assessments, construction feasibility reviews, scope of work development, and contractor oversight. The team worked closely with GLO construction contractors to identify and resolve issues during the construction process, ensuring that projects progressed efficiently and met program requirements. H2Bravo also performed construction inspections and reviewed contractor invoices to verify compliance and support payment processing.

 

One of the key achievements of the program was the completion of over 2,400 home repair and reconstruction projects at a pace of approximately 40 completions per month. The program continues to assist residents in rebuilding their homes and improving their communities’ resilience to future disasters.
